Monkey D. LuffyReal Name: Timothy Gatz
Room Number: M37
Age:
17
Height: 5'7"
Eye color: Black
Hair color: Black
Other Characteristics: Luffy has a scar under his left eye from when he stabbed himself as a child.

Has been taken from between the Skypiea and Water 7 storyarcs.

Personality:
Easy going and generally an optimist, Luffy strikes most people as extremely childlike in his behavior. The simplest things often amaze him, and he can come across as unintelligent. Because he tends to view things in such simple terms, however, it helps him keep his priorities in order and often works to his advantage.

[ToHe's blunt and straight-forward with everyone he meets, and he's often honest to a fault (although he's been known to lie when missing food is in question). Despite his simple-mindedness, Luffy has a heart of gold and cares for his friends more than anything. He's also a man of his word and sincerely believes in keeping any promises he makes. (His treasured straw hat is actually the symbol of a promise he made with Red-Haired Shanks many years ago.)

Given his current status as a pirate, it goes without saying that Luffy doesn't really respect authority, although it would be added]a stretch to say he's a rebel for the sake of being a rebel. Rather, Luffy feels people should follow their hearts and dreams, and if it happens to conflict with the laws established by the government? Well, that's the government's problem.

Incidentally, Luffy doesn't exactly have any animosity towards the World Government (at the point I've taken him from, anyway), so long as he doesn't catch them hurting innocent. In fact, Luffy is pretty much accepting of most people he meets as long as they value their friends and have the strength to follow their dreams. He may laugh and poke fun of people who are too afraid to live their own paths (similar to how he was when he first met Coby), but those who treat their friends poorly run the risk of sending Luffy into a rage.

Luffy seldom kills the enemies he comes up against. Mangka Eiichiro Oda explained that it wasn't a question of morality on Luffy's part. Instead, allowing the bad guys to live is a harsher punishment because they must watch as their plans are ruined before their eyes, and they must live with the consequences.

Luffy is pretty fearless and isn't particularly bothered by the idea of death. What he fears most is his grandfather, and the mere mention of him will intimidate Luffy enough to stop him dead in his tracks, even in the middle of a fight.
