Physical description:

Tyki Mikk has two appearances, and which of these two 'sides' you'll meet depends on when your character encounters him. During the day he'll be in his white side, but during dinner he will shift into his black form in which he lasts the whole night. The physical transformation doesn't last long, only mere seconds.

General:
Height: 188 cm
Hair: Black, curly, about shoulder-length
Other: has a mole under his left eye. Rather thin build.

Daytime - White side:
Eye color: brown
Skin color: normal
Other: wears thick glasses, some stuble on his chin.

Nighttime - Black side:
Eye color: gold
Skin color: dark grey-ish
Other: A row of cross-shaped markings on forehead. Glasses and stuble absent. Might or might not have his hair slicked back.

White SideAbout his two sides:
Though his white and black side are the same person and have the same body, they are different enough to be mistaken for two different persons.
Not just because his behavior is different and he looks different, but even the tone of his voice changes. His white side is a very laid-back vagabond, and he generally tries to pass for a normal human. His black side, on the other hand, is a bloodlusting member of the Noah Clan. He's sadistic, but also lazy and a gentleman.

History:

Tyki Mikk is a member of the Noah Clan, a group of members said to be direct descendants of Noah in the bible. Each Noah embodies a memory of the ‘original’ Noah (so to speak). For example, you have the Dreams of Noah, the Bonds of Noah, the Wrath of Noah…etc. Tyki embodies the Pleasure of Noah. The Noah claim to be the true apostles of God, and support the Millennium Earl in achieving the ‘three days of Darkness’ (as said in the in the first book of the Old Testament, chapter 6-9 of Genesis), which leads to the destruction of the human race. The Earl had attempted to achieve this before, but he had been defeated.

D.Gray-man centres around the Earl’s attempt to achieve the three days of darkness again, and the Exorcists that fight him with substance called ‘Innocence’. The Earl along with the Noah are searching for Innocence called the ‘Heart’, which leads to the destruction of all Innocence, thus all resistance. To fight the Exorcists, The Earl does not only have the Noah clan to his disposal, but also creatures called ‘Akuma’. They are weapons born out of a person’s grief for someone that has passed, and they grow stronger as they kill more humans.

In any case, being a member of the Noah clan is only part of Tyki. He, in fact, lives a double-life. His “black side” is the sadistic yet graceful member of the Noah clan. His “white side” is a carefree, orphaned bum of Portuguese decent that travels around with his three human friends (two men called Momo and Crack, and a young boy named Ease) as they look for work.

It’s in his white form that Allen Walker (the main character) met Tyki for the first time. Tyki and his friends had tricked the naïve Aleister Crowley into playing a couple of poker games, which eventually resulted in the poor Exorcist losing all of his clothing (save for the underwear :P). Allen soon jumped in and challenged Tyki and his friends for a new poker match to win his friend’s clothing back. Confident that they would win because of their cheating, Tyki gladly accepted the challenge. However, Allen proved to be a better cheater, resulting in the three men losing their own clothing instead (again, with the exception of their underwear :P). As they part, Allen returned their clothing. Ease wanted to give Allen a piece of silver bearing the name “Kevin Yeegar” as a token of thanks. But before the young boy could do so, Tyki gave Allen a deck of cards instead. He told Ease that the piece of silver was his ‘treasure’ and that he ‘went through a lot of trouble to get it for him’.

That piece of silver was the thing that indicated that something wasn’t quite right with them, or specifically, Tyki Mikk. Kevin Yeegar was the name of a recently killed Exorcist General of the Black Order. The man was hung facing backwards on a cross with ‘God Hunt’ carved on his back. The piece of silver was in fact an ornament from the General’s uniform. In any case, Tyki was soon summoned by none other than the Millennium Earl, though his friends didn’t know any better than Tyki having a “secret side job”.

After helping the other Noah Rhode with homework (with whom he seems to have a brother/sister relationship with), Tyki was ordered to go to Spain as the Earl’s messenger. He was also given a list with names of people that needed to be ‘deleted’. These people were related to a certain person, presumably General Cross or ‘The Musician’ (I highly suspect it to be the latter).

In Spain, he ran into the Exorcist Daisya Barry, whom he murdered and hung upside-down on a lattern pole, in a somewhat crucified manner. Other Exorcists soon follow; Tyki also murdered Tina Spark, Gwen Frere and Sol Galen of General Cloud Nine’s team, and Kazana Reed and Chakar Rabon of General Winters Sokoro’s team – all of these people weren’t even on his list. Another Exorcist named Suman Dark was spared. The man wanted to live so badly that he gave Tyki information about the Black Order. Ironically, Suman was turned into a Togaochi – a fallen one, which is some sort of punishment for betraying God. Allen had attempted to save him, but eventually Suman had been eaten from the inside out by the Tease, which are man-eating golems shaped as butterflies controlled by Tyki.

It was during this event that Tyki met Allen once again. Because the boy had been weakened greatly from trying to save Suman, he was no match for the Noah. After explaining a bit of his powers to the young Exorcist, Tyki ripped off his arm (thus, Allen’s innocence) and destroyed it. Using a Tease to create a hole within Allen’s heart, he left the young Exorcist for death in China. Unbeknownst to him, Allen’s Innocence still lived and saved Allen’s life by closing the hole in Allen’s heart. Tyki only discovered this when the name refused to disappear from his list, indicating that Allen had survived.

In the mean time, Tyki had already travelled to Japan, where he met up with the other Noah in order to kill Marian Cross. It’s there where it is revealed that the old Ark was controlled by a human referred to as ‘The Musician’, and that the Earl wanted a new Ark. If the new Ark was completed (by downloading), the old Ark would be destroyed. In the mean time, Tyki ordered a level three Akuma to use the Box (otherwise known as the Ark) to bring back Allen Walker, so that he could kill him. After revealing that Allen was still alive and that they might be able to see him soon, Tyki fought with both Lavi and Kanda, injuring Linali in the progress. The battle was eventually interrupted by the destruction of Edo and later the re-appearance of Allen; the Earl simply dragged him and Skin back to the Ark in which they retreated.

An Exorcist believed to be the previously mentioned Heart, Linali, is soon brought to the old Ark, the one who would be destroyed after the new one had been completed; which was a matter of a few hours. A few of the other Exorcists had managed to follow her, specifically Allen, Kanda, Crowley, Lavi and Chaoji. Anyway, Tyki soon appeared before the group. After revealing that his white and black side were the same person, he challenged the group to play a game. He gave them a key, and if they managed to exit the Ark before it was destroyed, they would win the game.

The Exorcists went through the Ark and made it to the dining room where they met both Tyki and Rhode, soon followed with a battle. During the fight, Allen managed to achieve a 100% synch rate with his Innocence, which allowed him a blade to exorcise Akuma (or even Noah) with, which was eventually used on Tyki. But instead of exorcising the Noah within Tyki and turning him into a human, it unlocked the new form of the ‘Noah of Pleasure’. In this form, Tyki looked somewhat similar to a level three Akuma, except that he had vines growing out of his back. In this form, Tyki was stronger and faster, but he appeared to have lost his sanity along with his control. Tyki was defeated by Marian Cross, but saved by the Earl, who was interested in the Noah of Pleasure’s full potential. It was also said Tyki unconsciously suppressed this form. I guess the sword allowed the suppresed Noah to take over. Later chapters prove that he's back in human form, but it still remains to be seen if the whole ordeal has affected him in a sense.

It is not canonly mentioned when or how Tyki met his three human friends, or how and when he had joined the Noah clan. I suspect his white side to be there first, eventually meeting his three human friends. At some point, his Noah side awakened, which eventually led to him leading a double-life. Otherwise, I don’t see Tyki putting up with humans as the other Noahs hate them, but Tyki clearly doesn’t. Plus, even in Noah form, he still has some hints of goofiness. He steals fish from a pond, which isn’t something a proper gentleman would do very quickly. He also states he never got any sort of education, while Rhode’s going to school.

Personality

Tyki has both a “white” and a “black” form, and with each form comes a difference in personality.

In his “white” form, Tyki seems like a carefree, sticky-fingered, somewhat goofy bum who enjoys travelling around with his friends in order to find work. In this form, Tyki seems to be pretty laid-back and cheerful, seemingly not really worried about anything other than getting food, card-games, his human friends and his smokes. Even though he’s the type to snag away your stuff when you’re not looking, he’s actually pretty kind.

As for his “black” form, Tyki appears to be more of a gentleman rather than a hobo (though he’s still a smoker). He is definitely a sadist. He really has no qualms about killing someone, let alone taunting them or causing them severe pain (be it physical or mental). He certainly takes pleasure in this. However, he can also kill his enemy quickly when needed. I guess whether his opponent dies slowly or not depends on various factors. Entertainment, most likely. But even when he gives he’s being sadistic to his poor victim, he still retains his polite demeanour somewhat. Well, as polite as someone can be to someone whose arm is about to be ripped off.

The sadism definitely has to do with his “real” form which appears later in the manga, in which he is some bloodlusting monster…demon-thing (said to be the real form of the Noah of Pleasure). It is stated in the manga that Tyki unconsciously suppressed this side of him, though he probably let him out once or twice. I highly suspect his sadism to come from this, along with that super scary grin of his XD

The reason that, unlike the other Noah, he has two distinguishable sides is simply because he’s having fun. He knows it’s dangerous, he knows he’s walking on a thin thread, and he knows the risk that he might lose control and won’t be able to revert back. Yet, he still continues despite the fact that he knows what it might cost him. Because it’s fun, and he’s the Noah of Pleasure, so I bet he wants his entertainment. That’s also the reason why he follows the Earl’s orders, because it’s fun. It’s also the reason for still having his white side, because it’s fun. But still….it somehow reminds me of an addiction. I suppose that would be a good way to describe it, that Tyki’s addicted to both of his sides. Therefore, he doesn’t want to lose either.

The other reason for having two sides is simply because he cares for both his three human friends and the other Noah family members. In both the anime and manga, he states that if he isn’t careful, he won’t be able to revert back to his white form. He doesn’t want to lose his human friends. However, it is also shown he cares for the other Noah. The way he interacts with Rhode is similar to how a normal brother and sister would interact. He helped her with homework because, as he says, they are family, and in the anime he even imitates Lero to somewhat entertain the young Noah girl (though reluctantly). Another scene would be one in the manga, where he’s seen crying when Skin died. Even though his Noah was probably the one that cried, but.

As said earlier, he’s the type of person who wants to have fun. This might or might not have anything to do that he is the one presenting Noah’s pleasure. Whenever he’s bored, Tyki’s getting impatient, and even begins to complain. He also appears to be pretty lazy, simply stating that the location of one mission received from the Earl ‘is pretty far’. He doesn’t like to be called back for “nothing”, either. But yeah, after the complaining Tyki will end up doing it anyway, though perhaps reluctantly. However, there are still hints of goofiness in his Noah form. Stealing fish from a pond seems to be pretty out-of-place for a gentleman, for example. Though his black and white forms have their differences, there are still some traits that overlap. He also appears as a confident character, even to the point of being arrogant. Especially his black side.

But despite his sadism Tyki is one of the kinder Noah. Even the other members of the Noah clan had noticed the man to be pretty friendly with humans. In fact, Tyki loves humans. And he destroys what he loves. He wouldn’t put up with three of them if he didn’t love humans. Plus, he doesn’t torture everyone he lays eyes upon. If he doesn’t have anything against someone personally (or no orders to kill them or whatever, or being an Exorcist as in they’re Random Person A), he’ll probably just ignore him or her. However, if he or she’s persistent and provoke him, that person will most likely end up very dead. But, Tyki can also snap. If he gets serious, he’ll definitely go for a kill.

Tyki also has the habit to play around with items, especially when he’s bored. Mostly, they are cards, but they can also be other items lying around. Tyki’s also a smoker.

Powers and Abilities:

Tyki holds the power to control the Tease, and even store them in his own body. The Tease are man-eating, butterfly-shaped golems given to him by none other than the Millenium Earl. When they eat more human flesh, they grow and multiply, which even allows him to use people as a nursery for the Tease. He can also use the Tease to create shields and blades of some sort. But the Tease are only tools.

Tyki’s real power is, in fact, not to be taken lightly. He can choose or reject anything in creation (the only exception being Innocence)
which allows him to pass through anything. He can go through walls and floors like a ghost would, but he can also go through human flesh. And that’s not everything; he can decide what to touch and what not to touch. He could make his arm go through a body without harming anything, but decide that he wants to touch only a certain organ. This allows him to either crush or rip-out organs without leaving any wounds. If a doctor would do an autopsy on the corpse, they’ll just notice one of the organs is missing. So yeah, bad touching on its best *shot*. But that’s not all he can do. Like I’ve said, he has the ability to manipulate the matter around him. This also allows him to walk on air or water, not get hit by an attack or even rejecting the air in a certain area in order to create a vacuum, which will make the unfortunate person inside suffocate.

The Noah also can destroy Innocence. I’m not entirely clear whether all Noah have the regenerative abilities like Rhode has, since I’ve never seen Tyki heal. But he won’t have it in Landels anyway, so yeah. However, after his Noah was supposed to be ‘excorcised’ by Allen, it unlocked a more powerful form of Tyki. In this state, his speed and power had increased tremendously. The Earl appeared to be interested in the Noah of Pleasure’s true potential.

Also, the Noah seem to have a telepathic connection with both Akuma and other Noah.

@ Landels:
Well, Tyki isn’t going to have his Tease, that’s for sure. They’ll simply be removed from him when he enters Landels. So yeah, no man-eaiting butterflies for him, so he won’t be able to use them as blades or shields. He’ll immediately notice they are absent, since they are stored within his body. Though the possibility is incredibly slim, if he manages to re-acquire a few Tease he’ll still be able to store them in his body. But I don’t see that happening very soon.

As for his own power, to manipulate the matter around him, that will be greatly weakened. But as I still want him to keep something to a certain extend, I have the following proposal.

He’ll be able to use his power only twice in a single night, and only for a short amount of time. What does that mean? He’ll be able to phase through walls, floors or other objects, or even attacks from enemies (not that it’d be practical due to the limitations below, but that’s another story).

However, in order to prevent him having too much of a convenience, I’ll set the following extra limitations:
- The first attempt will leave him dizzy and shaky. He’ll need a moment or two to collect his bearings and he’ll still feel drained for quite some time.
- The second attempt will make him lose consciousness right after he uses it.
- He won’t be able to use it during the day.
- He won’t be able to enter any locked room with his power. If he wants to try it, something will block it.
- He won’t be able to take anyone with him when phasing through the wall. Just the items currently on his person, and himself. I think this is already canon, but I’m stating it for the record.
- He won’t be able to use it on other patients, nightshifters or monsters (so no organ-snatching for him). He’ll be able to phase through a spear, but he won’t be able to phase through the arm if someone were to grab him by his throat. Again, if he tries it something will block it. This should prevent him from killing powerful nightshifters or players, since no matter how strong the creature, he can kill it by snatching a vital organ (brains or the heart).
- He won’t be able to create a vacuum around someone or anything else that isn’t stated above. He’ll only be able to do the phasing stuff. Anything else will be out of the question.

Body-wise, it will be that of a regular human, even during the night when he’s having the cool crosses on his forehead. He won’t be able to bear more injuries than a normal human would, nor would they heal any faster than a normal human (unless, say, a healing spell was used). He’s also seen jumping from roof to roof and seems to be pretty quick in the anime/manga, but he won’t have any of that either. So aside from his power as stated above, he won’t have anything fancy. No cool jumping abilities, no quick reflexes, no extra strength or stamina. Nothing. Because, if allowed, he already has what’s stated above.

Other than that, he still has the telepathic connection with the Akuma and other Noah, but unfortunately for him that's also weakened. Using it will give him a headache. Also, the messages take some effort to make out, on both sides.

Other abilities:
Tyki appears to be pretty good at playing poker. Or perhaps I should say cheating at poker (He isn’t as good as Allen though). Also, since Tyki’s pretty sticky-fingered I’d say he’s pretty good at stealing and pick-pocketing, which will probably come in handy.
